General
What does The Lux Group do? +
The Lux Group is an independent Beverly Hills atelier that transforms the Apple Watch into a luxury timepiece — mirror-polishing the titanium Apple Watch Ultra, pairing it with designer and authentic Hermès straps, and plating stainless-steel Apple Watches in genuine 24K gold.
Where are you based, and do you have a store? +
We're based in Beverly Hills, California, and operate online only — no brick-and-mortar showroom. Every product photo is the real piece you receive, shot in-house.
What are your hours? +
Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm PST.
What's included in an order? +
Your Apple Watch, its band (when the listing includes one), a 1-meter Apple Watch charger, and a genuine Apple retail box.
The Watches & Finishes
What is a polished Apple Watch Ultra? +
A standard titanium Apple Watch Ultra refinished by hand to a high-gloss, mirror shine. We remove Apple's matte factory finish and polish the body to a reflective luster — a sport watch turned dress watch — with full functionality intact.
Are your gold watches solid gold? +
No. They're plated in genuine 24K gold over the Apple Watch's stainless-steel body. The gold is real 24K; the body beneath it is stainless steel. They are not solid gold.
How thick is the gold plating? +
Our 24K gold is plated to 5 microns, which meets the FTC standard for heavy gold electroplate — the highest plating grade the FTC defines. Our 24K yellow gold plating is nickel-free and hypoallergenic.
What gold finishes do you offer? +
Genuine 24K yellow gold and rose gold.
Is the watch taken apart to polish or plate it? +
Never. We finish the complete, sealed watch without opening it, so seals, sensors, and water resistance are preserved.
Which Apple Watch models do you work with? +
The current Apple Watch Ultra 3 (polished titanium) and the Apple Watch Series 9 for our gold collection.
Why is the gold collection built on the Series 9? +
The Series 9 is the last Apple Watch Series made in stainless steel — the metal our 24K plating bonds to. That's why our gold pieces are built on it. The current-generation Ultra 3 is offered polished rather than plated, since it's titanium.
Does the watch still function normally? +
Completely. We never open the watch, so every Apple feature — heart rate and ECG sensors, GPS, cellular, charging, water resistance — works exactly as designed. Only the exterior is transformed.
Bands & Straps
What bands and straps do you carry? +
Authentic Hermès leather and metal straps, 24K gold link bracelets, gold Milanese loops, and leather deployment straps — all sold individually and sized for the Apple Watch Ultra and Series.
Are your Hermès straps authentic? +
Yes. Every Hermès strap is genuine, including hard-to-find and discontinued references no longer sold at retail.
Can I change the band myself? +
Yes. Lay the watch face-down on a soft, lint-free cloth, hold the band-release button, and slide the band out sideways. Slide the new band in (text facing you) until it clicks.
How do I care for a leather band? +
Wipe it with a soft, lint-free cotton cloth and store it away from light and heat. Keep leather away from prolonged sun, alcohol and perfumes, oils, ink, and water, which can stain or damage it permanently.
Services
Can I send in my own Apple Watch to be polished? +
Yes. Mail-in body polishing for the Apple Watch Ultra starts at $250. We mirror-polish the titanium body and return it insured — never disassembled. Polishing is final sale; if anything isn't right, email photos within 24 hours of delivery and we'll correct it.
Can you polish my band? +
We polish select metal bands and bracelets, but not all qualify — some can't be safely polished because they don't come apart or can't be separated from leather or rubber components. Contact us first with your band details and we'll confirm eligibility and quote it.
Can I send in my own watch for gold plating? +
Yes. Mail-in gold plating is available as a service and carries a 60-day warranty against flaking or fading.
Do you offer gem-setting? +
Yes — our Diamond Edition treatment, set by hand. Gem-set commissions are made to order with a 3–5 month lead time.
Warranty & Care
How does the warranty work? +
A gold-plated Apple Watch purchased from The Lux Group carries a 5-year (60-month) limited warranty on the watch body against dulling, flaking, and fading under normal wear. Register within 30 days of delivery to be eligible; you'll receive a unique ID to keep for any future claim. A mail-in gold-plating service on your own watch carries a 60-day warranty. Polishing carries no warranty. Bands are not covered. (Metal bands can be re-plated from $75.)
Will the gold flake or fade? +
Our 5-micron heavy gold plating is built to last under normal wear. On a watch purchased from us, dulling, flaking, or fading is covered by the 5-year limited warranty (registration required within 30 days).
How do I clean my gold watch? +
Use a soft microfiber cloth with light pressure. Avoid abrasive materials (cotton tees, rags), caustic soaps, and chemical cleaners, which can damage the finish. For light scratches, a liquid carnauba wax can help diminish them.
My watch has a device issue (battery, electronics, software) — what do I do? +
Device faults are Apple's domain, not ours, so they aren't covered by our warranty — but don't take a gold-plated watch to Apple before contacting us. Because it's plated, Apple won't service it normally, and going to them first can leave you responsible for replacing and re-plating the watch. Reach out to us directly and we'll help facilitate the repair.
What is Lux Extended Care? +
Optional coverage you can add at the time of purchase. It extends body coverage to include up to two accidental-damage incidents (such as water damage or screen breakage): 2 years on gold-plated stainless steel ($299 deductible per incident) or 3 years on Hermès gold-plated stainless steel ($399 deductible per incident). It's a Lux Group program, claimed through our contact page.
Orders, Shipping & Returns
Do I pay for shipping? +
U.S. orders over $299 ship free via FedEx 2nd Day (2 business days), with overnight available as an upgrade. International orders ship FedEx International Priority for $199 (2–5 business days, plus customs time). Tracking, insurance, and signature confirmation are included on every method. All orders ship from California.
How fast do you ship? +
In-stock orders placed before 1pm PST ship the next business day. Hermès pieces and custom bands are exceptions and take longer; we'll confirm timing.
Do I have to pay customs or duties? +
Duties and taxes are the customer's responsibility and vary by destination country. Contact us before ordering if you'd like help estimating what applies to you.
Can I return or exchange an item? +
If merchandise arrives wrong or damaged, request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) within 24 hours of delivery; we'll email an RMA number and instructions. A 30% restocking fee applies to accepted returns, and shipping is non-refundable. Hermès straps and custom orders are final sale.
What if my package arrives damaged? +
Keep all packaging and contact us within 24 hours of delivery so we can help.
